Daily Hardwood Care & Maintenance

Follow our Specialty Flooring hardwood care & maintenance guide today to guarantee that your hardwood floors look great for years to come!

Daily hardwood care involves regular broom sweeping. Sweeping is key to prolonging the lifespan of your hardwood floors as it helps to eliminate dirt, dust, and other debris that can gather on the flooring. This debris can lead to premature aging, additional wear and tear, and an overall lackluster appearance. How often you sweep will depend on the traffic that your hardwood receives, but plan on doing so every couple of days at least.

You can also damp-mop your hardwood floors for a deeper clean. When doing so, make sure that your mop is damp and not wet. A wet mop could lead to warping and other hardwood damage.

Dealing With Hardwood Spills & Stains

Hardwood floors are, generally speaking, more than up to the task of handling whatever liquid spills or solid messes come their way. With that said, knowing how to handle specific hardwood messes can help to ensure beautiful floors that look great for decades.

For solid messes, use a broom to sweep up the mess immediately.

For liquid messes, absorb the mess with a cloth after the spill occurs. The longer you wait to do so, the more likely it is that lingering damage occurs.
